I agree with Mill's theory of having maximum freedom, as long as you aren't harming anyone else...to an extent. One of the topics we discussed in class was drug use. Does it harm others, or is it just harming the user, and if it is only harming the user, should it be legal? I think that the answer is no. If a person is high on crack, they are not only harming themselves, but harming others' well-being. Sure, they're setting an example to kids of what NOT to do, but what about the kids who don't have parent to tell them that what the crack-lady is doing is wrong and will mess up their lives? These kids may see drug use as fun...
So, there is my two cents...drug use should be illegal, for the users well being, as well as others. The end. :)

ReplyDeleteI agree with you! There are kids out there that are going to see the crazy crack lady and think, "hey that might be fun to do one day just to try it out," then they are addicted. So I agree that doing drugs does not only affect the one person doing them, it affects everyone around them by their example!
ReplyDeleteI also agree. I mean, yes most drugs might cause you to just chill out, but have y'all ever heard of having a "bad trip?" Lets just say, sometimes people tripping don't just see pretty colors....and because they think it is real, their reactions are real. I have know people who, because of someone having a bad trip, got the snot beat out of them. And, if you kill yourself doing drugs, are you not hurting those who love you? Just saying....Hugs not drugs!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Using drugs is not only harming yourself, but puting everyone else around you in danger, too. You're intoxicated, and cannot control your actions when you are high on drugs.
