This sentence has been called "one of the best known sentences in the English language". But what does it really mean? Does it mean simply what it says it means? That we as human beings, God's creation, have certain rights that can't being taken from us solely based on who we are? This very well might be true. But what makes it true? Many people sadly take this statement, along with the rest of our Declaration of Independence and Constitution for granted. Without ever truly asking the question, why? I personally believe that God graciously gave our founding fathers the wisdom and guidance they needed to found our great country. For if He had not, I seriously doubt America would have been able to accomplish the many things she has been able to through out the course of history. Sadly, we have greatly shifted from putting God at the center of our lives and our country in our day and age. But there is hope for America still. There is hope! We must turn back to our roots, back to the mindset that God gave our founding fathers. The Lord even tells us there is hope in His Word.
"For if My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14
